Wisdom teeth and orthodonists?

Hi. A little over a year ago I had my top two wisdom teeth out. It was a terrible experience as both of the teeth cracked and half of one receeded into my gumline while the dentist had to have his assistant hold down my head while he knelt on the bed and used both his hands to pull out the other tooth!! I always had a small gap between my front teeth but now they are spreading even furthur apart and what was never a problem has become a problem. I visited the same dentist as the spreading started right after the wisdom teeth extraction and he claimed the two events were not related. My front teeth ache constantly now since they are moving more and more everyday - they are starting to look bad and I can get my tongue in between them!! So my question is two fold: 1) was the dentist just covering his *** when he said the extraction has nothing to do with my teeth spreading now after being in the same place for 23 years? and 2) Should I go to an orthodontist?

Wisdom teeth and orthodonists?
Whenever a tooth is pulled there is a chance the others will shift. It is very likely this is the reason for the gap increasing in size. I would see a different dentist and get a referral to an orthodontist.

I have a crossbite and my old dentist wanted to charge me $1,000 to fix it. He wanted to take the bottom of the tooth off (front tooth #10) and try to bring it forward, afterwards putting a false front on it. I was uncomfortable with the thought of taking off the bottom of my tooth. I saw a different dentist who referred me to an excellent orthodontist. At my first orthodontist visit I told them what my first dentist had suggested. They looked horrified! For $1,000 they have put braces on my front bottom and top teeth. Total treatment time = 8 months.

Good Luck!
Reply:Wisdom teeth can cause crowding if let in place where there is not enough room, but I have never heard of them causing a space in front teeth. Definitely check with orthodontist to close space, but I don%26#039;t think your dentist is at fought. Although he probably should have let an oral surgeon take out your wisdom teeth, and put you out for that procedure. Your teeth can move as you get older.
Reply:I would go to another dentist one that you know see what he says That does sound funny
